About Me

“Love takes off the mask that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within. I use the word “Love” here not merely in the personal sense but as a state of being or a state of grace—not in the infantile American sense of being made happy but in the tough and universal sense of quest and daring and growth.”

Hello, I’m Terry (He/Him).

Born and raised in Chicago, I am a forty-something, same-gender-loving, Black man of faith living in Seattle. Sum and substance, I am love. Critically reflective, bold, and vulnerable, my musings are tapestried within my personal commitments to societal welfare and social justice at the intersections of identity and faith.

Professionally, I am the Finance and Human Resources Director at a Jesus-centered, multiethnic, LGBQTIA+ affirming, justice-engaged church in Seattle, Washington.
